Mission of Kochard Foundation
Spread kindness and give a helping hand to children with gastrointestinal tract diseases.
The aim of Kochard Foundation is to provide support to children and adolescents from disadvantaged families in Armenia who suffer from intestinal diseases, particularly inflammatory bowel disease. This will enable them to receive timely and complete access to a definitive diagnosis, necessary treatment, and follow-up care.
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a group of diseases that cause chronic inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract. The two major IBD types include ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. In case of failure of proper diagnosis and receiving timely therapy, IBD can result in a number of complications, including bowel obstruction, severe dehydration, toxic megacolon, etc.
In addition to supporting children and adolescents with diagnosis and treatment of IBD, Kochard Foundation has also undertaken the mission of raising awareness about the IBD and intestinal diseases in general, as well as facilitating of collecting and analyzing complete data regarding the morbidity and prevalence of these diseases amongst the population of the Republic of Armenia.
